

While the Visual Studio Code IDE was demoed at Microsofts BUILD Conference today under Ubuntu Linux, the 64-bit VS Code Linux package ran just fine on Fedora 21 without having to install any extra dependencies. Alternatively, there is a Flatpak package for it in the Flathub repository. Following the big news just now that Microsoft released their new Visual Studio IDE for Linux, I downloaded it and tried out on Fedora 21. These official builds have extra features, most notably they have support for installing extensions from the VSCode marketplace via its extension gallery, while open-source builds do not.
